Annie Laura Gassaway Golding passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, in Aurora, Missouri from complications of pneumonia. She enjoyed a long life with her loving family, and serving God. She was born September 25, 1927, in Searcy, Arkansas to Charles and Jennie Walker.
She was the youngest of 10 children. Brothers Henry, Lester, Samuel, half-brothers Robert, Howard, Sidney, half-sisters Charlene and two girls who died in infancy. She grew up and graduated from high school in McRae, Arkansas. She worked for Sears in Little Rock, Arkansas, Peoria, Illinois, Kansas City, Missouri and Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
She was married to Lonnie Gassaway for 52 years when he passed in 2000. They co-owned Ideal Body Shop Repair in Lee’s Summit, for many years. They were the parents of two children, Wanda and Walt.
Annie assisted in the children’s school activities, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Harley Davidson club, and many church activities. She was well known for her beautifully decorated cakes, her
exquisite flower gardens and her love of family and God. She had been an Auxiliary volunteer at the Aurora Hospital since 1980 and a member of the Aurora Baptist Temple.
She married Daryl Golding May 22, 2002, and was blessed with three loving step children, and their precious families.
She is survived by her husband Daryl Golding; daughter Wanda Johnston (Randy Bradley); son Walt Gassaway; four grandsons Adam Gassaway (Tammie), Matt Gassaway (Ashley), Ryan Johnston (Jacqueline) and Randy Johnston and four great-grandchildren. Step children Steve Golding (Joanne), Becky Golding, Tim Golding (Janese) and numerous step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren and step great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service under the direction of the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home in Aurora will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at the Aurora Baptist Temple. Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the church. Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Judsonia, Arkansas beside her first husband, Lonnie Gassaway at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 26, 2018.
The family asked that donations be made to the Aurora Baptist Temple.
