In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorial donations to be made to the “University of Oklahoma Foundation” for the OU Softball Stadium Renovation project.  Donations can be given to the funeral home to send or can be mailed to:  Sooner Club, 180 W Brooks, Norman, OK 73019.  Please note ‘Gerry Johnson Memoriam’ in any correspondence.

Gerry was a 1963 graduate of Aurora High School and received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from SMSU (now MSU), as well as a Master’s Degree and a Specialist in Administration.  She was a special education teacher, assistant principal and athletic director for Aurora.  She also worked for the Missouri Department of Education in Jefferson City, Rolla Public Schools and then ultimately retired from Nevada Schools as the Director of Special Services.  On June 9, 1962, she married Jim Johnson, in Miami, Oklahoma.

Gerry aka “Gerbear” was loving, extremely generous, fun-loving and enjoyed spending time with her family.  She was an avid animal advocate and dearly loved her chihuahua, Napoleon “Nappy”.  She and Jim were avid softball fans.  Much joy came from supporting OU softball in their ‘13/’16 national championships and watching their granddaughter, Erin, receive All-American honors and 2016 Big 12 Player of the Year.  They also loved supporting their guardian granddaughter, Andrea McKee, who played at Oklahoma State University and now works for USA Softball.

Gerry is survived by her husband of 55 years, Jim, of Tulsa; two daughters, Gina Miller and her husband, Randy, of Tulsa and Stephanie Johnson of Aurora; two granddaughters, Erin Miller of Tulsa and Andrea McKee of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  Her parents, Bill and Louise Aldrich, preceded her in death.
