Obituary for Marie "Evalyn" Ament

Marie “Evalyn” Ament, age 88, of Aurora, Missouri, passed away at 11:15 a.m. on Sunday, October 22, 2017, at the Ozarks Methodist Manor in Marionville, Missouri.  She was born July 10, 1929, in Thayer, Missouri, the daughter of Monroe and Florence (Hyde) Miller.

Evalyn was a 1947 graduate of Thayer High School, in Thayer, Missouri.  She was the owner of Lucky Dollar Store in Crane, Missouri and was the manager of Horton’s Clothing Store in Aurora and a member of the First Baptist Church of Aurora.

On December 29, 1947 she married Everett Ament in Thayer, Missouri.  He preceded her in death on June 30, 2010.

She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Gilbert, of Aurora; four grandchildren, Kimberly (James) Chronister of Galena, Kerry (Shawn) Turner of Battlefield, Jason (Kristeen) Ament, of Montara, California and Colby (Erin) Lawson of St. Louis, Missouri; nine great-grandchildren, Zac (Ashtin) Christensen, Lincoln Tyler Chronister, Wolfgang Axl Turner, Vegas Kiki Turner, Wyatt Ament, Ryann Ament, Kallista Ament, Jack Lawson and Sadie Lawson; two great-great grandchildren, Gus Christensen and Peyton Christensen; two brothers, Morris (Sharon) Miller of Springfield, Missouri and Robert (Phyllis) Miller of West Plains, Missouri; two sisters, Jan Loganbill of Chicago, Illinois and Glenda (Jay) Mahan of Altus, Oklahoma and daughter-in-law, Marty DeMoss.

Her parents, Monroe and Florence, husband, Everett, son, Steve and three brothers, Gene, Tom and Bert Miller, preceded her in death.

A celebration of Evalyn’s life will be held from 12:00-4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2017, at her home at 20701 Lawrence 2200, Aurora.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home in Aurora.
