RUTH ANN BAKER-(Grandma Ruthie)

Ruth Ann Baker, age 86, of Aurora, Missouri, passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at the Aurora Nursing Center. She was born October 11, 1931, in Lincolnville, Kansas, the daughter of Alva and Ruby (Garrison) Haizlip.

Ruth Ann made her home at the Aurora Nursing Center the last three years, where she made many friends with both the residents and staff. Prior to the nursing center she lived on Hadley Street in Aurora. She attended and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Aurora, and later in life the Aurora Church of the Nazarene. For many years she did child care for many children in Aurora. Ruth Ann along with her parents, loved water skiing on Table Rock Lake, and visiting with family and friends both in Aurora and at the White King View area of the lake was also one of her favorite pastimes. Ruth Ann also was a regular at the Aurora Baseball fields watching here grand and great-grand kids play ball. She was their biggest fan.

On February 19, 1978, she married Gerald “Jerry” Baker, in Le Mesa, California. He preceded her in death on December 4, 2000.

Ruth Ann is survived by her daughter, Dianna Kaye Haas Pierson and her husband, Robert (Bob) Pierson, of Aurora; one son, Harry Haas, Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Tehachapi, California; one sister, Roslyn James and seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Her parents, Alva and Ruby, husband, Jerry, daughter, Carol Baker Reeve, brother, Warren Haizlip, and sister, Sue William preceded her in death.

A celebration of Ruth Ann’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 7, 2018, at the Engage Church at 16 W. Olive St., Aurora. Burial will be at the Maple Park Cemetery in Aurora beside Jerry at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home in Aurora.

In lieu of flowers, the family request and appreciates any donations or memorials to be made to the Aurora Nursing Center.
